What's involved

House Rewiring — FAQs

How long does a full rewire take?

A typical 3-bed Billericay home takes around 5–10 working days depending on size, access and whether it's occupied. We agree a schedule with you before starting.

Do I have to move out during a rewire?

Not always, but it is disruptive — floors come up and walls are chased, and power is off in stages. Many people stay put for a partial rewire but move out for a full one.

How do I know if my house needs rewiring?

Warning signs include wiring installed before the 1980s, rubber or fabric-covered cables, an old fuse box with ceramic fuses, black round switches, or a recent Unsatisfactory EICR.

Will you make good the walls afterwards?

We chase in and patch the plaster to a ready-to-decorate finish. We'll agree up front whether we make good or leave it for your decorator, so it's clear in the quote.

Do I get a certificate for a rewire?

Yes — you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate and a Building Regulations (Part P) compliance notification, which you'll want when selling the property.
