What's involved
A site survey, running a dedicated protected circuit from the consumer unit, mounting a smart 7kW (or 22kW three-phase) charger, load and earthing checks (PEN fault protection), full testing, certification and DNO notification.
- We fit leading OZEV-approved smart chargers — Ohme, Hypervolt, Zappi, Easee and Wallbox — matched to your car, tariff and driveway.
- The OZEV chargepoint grant continues to 31 March 2027, worth £500 per socket from 1 April 2026, but it's targeted at renters, flat owners, landlords and on-street/cross-pavement installs — not standard homeowners with a driveway.
- Chargepoints installed since 30 June 2022 must be 'smart' under the Electric Vehicle (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021; a driveway charger is normally permitted development.

EV Charger Installation — FAQs
Are there any grants towards an EV charger in 2026?
The grant for standard homeowners with a driveway closed in 2022, but the OZEV chargepoint grant continues until 31 March 2027 — worth £500 per socket from 1 April 2026 for people in flats and rented homes, for landlords, and for on-street/cross-pavement and workplace installs. We'll tell you if you qualify.
Which charger brands do you install?
We fit leading OZEV-approved smart chargers such as Ohme, Hypervolt, Zappi, Easee and Wallbox. We'll recommend the best match for your car, tariff and driveway.
Can I run a 7kW charger on my home supply?
Most Billericay homes have a single-phase supply that comfortably runs a 7kW charger. If you want faster 22kW charging you'd need a three-phase supply, which we can advise on.
How long does the installation take?
A standard install is usually 3–4 hours. A longer cable run or a consumer unit upgrade can extend this, which we'll flag after the survey.
